For my project, I have chosen the topic: Social Networking: A purposeful loss of privacy. I would like to look into the impact that social media has in our everyday lives and what we have given up in the form of privacy to get here.
I agree that we hardly have any sort of privacy in our lives anymore. Aside from our parents, the government has records to all form of technology that we use.
I believe the purpose of social networking is to broadcast your information for others to see. That is the whole purpose of it. If you are seeking privacy you shouldn't be on a social network in the first place. What i take from social networking is that it's a way for me to keep track of things that people know about me and i don't condemn Facebook for broadcasting my information to other.
I agree that if your top priority is "PRIVACY," then you shouldn't be putting everything on social media. I dont believe that what is "known" about you on social media is solely based on what YOU put on it. With sites, like Google, tracking your cookies and such, they can track your interest and sell that to advertisers and then you end up getting personalized emails or targeted ads to what ever page your on. What you VOLUNTEER isn't the ONLY information about you on the web.
